Laner Muchin Partner Mark Bennett Honored in Crain’s Chicago Business’ Notable LGBTQ Executives List

08.09.2021

Laner Muchin is proud to announce Mark Bennett’s inclusion in Crain’s Chicago Business’ Notable LGBTQ Executives list in 2021. Mark has been recognized for his dedication to advancing equality and inclusion in the workplace and his commitment to enact change through his involvement in professional and community organizations.

Mark has strived for measured progress in workplace equality through his position as member of the firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, which allows a platform for staff of all backgrounds and identities to openly communicate their ideas and concerns about equity-related matters.

In addition, Mark serves as an active member of Laner Muchin’s Mentoring Program where he regularly advises and guides mentees to help them succeed in their careers. With the goal of improving firmwide inclusivity, he works to ensure attorneys and staff of all backgrounds, beliefs, orientations, identities and statuses can voice their opinions and that their viewpoints are valued. Colleagues candidly share their trust and confidence in Mark, often coming to him first with ideas or concerns.

Through his involvement in the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC), Mark has volunteered to serve as a mentor for up-and-coming LGBTQ lawyers as they progress within the legal profession.

As a resident of the Ravenswood neighborhood in Chicago, he is active in the Second Unitarian Church of Chicago and has served as Co-Chair of its Annual Fundraising Canvass for the last three years. He serves as a liaison between the church and the Lighthouse Foundation, an organization focused on black LGBTQ issues and equality and is a member of the Foundation’s Coalition of Accomplices for Racial Equity (CARES).

Crain’s Chicago Business’ Notable LGBTQ Executives list honors professionals who have demonstrated their commitment to promoting workplace diversity and inclusion. While also including directors and managers at the top LGBTQ organizations in Chicago, the list honors outstanding executives in manufacturing, law, healthcare, government, architecture, design, technology and startup businesses.
