U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Retracts Previous Announcement On Filing Of Final Green Card Applications

On September 25, 2015, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued a correction to their previous announcement from September 9, 2015 regarding procedures for applicants waiting to file their third and final stage of the green card process, known as the employment-based or family-sponsored preference adjustment of status application. According to the previous USCIS announcement, a significant number of applicants, some of whom may have been waiting for years due to U.S. government visa backlogs, became eligible to file their final stage of the green card process starting in October 2015. The recent correction issued by USCIS revises and now limits the pool of applicants eligible to file their final stage green card applications.  Absent any new announcements, those individuals who were hoping to file their applications in October 2015 will now need to continue waiting to file their applications.
